"Big Dreamers Never Sleep" — Frank Westerbeke
Frank Westerbeke
As the creative force and Vice President of Gadabout SalonSpas in Tucson, AZ, Frank Westerbeke has always lived by these words. A man of little sleep, Frank has always dreamed big — not for himself but for the many that he has mentored over the years — for the success of the company he is an integral part of and for the love of his friends and family that makes it all worthwhile.
As a "rookie" stylist in training, Frank first entered the Gadabout family 25 years ago as one of the first employees hired at a new salon owned by a talented young newcomer to Tucson — Pam McNair, who would become his mentor, his best friend and ultimately his mother-in-law.
Frank has been recognized for his talents since he was in beauty school. The winner of numerous awards throughout his career, his unlimited creative talents drove Frank from the beginning to be one of the most sought after stylists. He is not driven by classic style factors but rather works to bring out the personality of his clients through innovative style and color techniques. The same creativity allows him to develop cutting edge building and space design for the Gadabout group of salons which includes 7 locations in the Tucson market.
A born educator, Frank is constantly developing new programs for the Gadabout team. He believes strongly that people achieve happiness through personal growth and his greatest joy is inspiring others to reach their maximum potential.
Never one to miss a creative challenge, when asked to spontaneously participate in a design demonstration at the Intercoiffure World Congress in Tokyo in 2005, he didn’t hesitate. The "chandelier" hair styles that resulted will not soon be forgotten and it remains one of his most enjoyable projects to date.
For his inspired creativity and love of his craft, Frank will be honored on Saturday, September 8th, 2007 with the prestigious Createur de Mode Award in Paris at the Intercoiffure "Night of the Stars" gala.
This year Frank will also celebrate his 18th anniversary with his wife Jana with whom he has two beautiful daughters, Wylie and Wagner, and also oversees the day to day operations of Gadabout SalonSpas. The business that bought them together has truly been a labor of love. The future is ever unfolding for this dreamer of beauty. — July 2007
