Jana Westerbeke, daughter of Pam McNair-Wingate, grew up in the hustle and excitement of the beauty industry. As Gadabout’s first intern, Jana discovered her true passion in life. Through the creativity of hairdressing, she found she could touch people’s lives in many ways and as a Gadabout educator for more than 20 years she knows that the more she teaches and shares her knowledge, the more she learns in life.

Working side by side with her mother, Jana helped to create the vision and philosophy that is Gadabout. In 2005, the torch was passed from mother to daughter and today, as President and Director of Guest Relations at Gadabout SalonSpas, Jana carries on the high standards of excellence instilled in her by her mother in those early years. Under her leadership, Gadabout’s legendary customer service continues to keep this award winning company strong. Jana inspires customer service programs that create the Gadabout experience. She empowers her team of colleagues to achieve their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives and to realize the positive difference they can make in other people’s lives through their work. Jana is inspired every day by their success. “I am here to coach and lead so others can succeed. When others reach their goals, it is my hope that they will want to ‘pay it forward’ to continue the growth cycle in this world we are blessed to live in.”

In addition to being a totally devoted mother of two beautiful daughters, and partner in life and in Gadabout with her husband Frank Westerbeke, she is one of Tucson’s most selfless citizens. Under her guidance, Gadabout SalonSpas also supports many worthy Tucson charities including Tu Nidito, Angel Charities, The Parseghian Foundation, The Brewster Center, Susan G. Komen Foundation and more. In 2006 Gadabout underwrote the costs of an in-house salon at the new Peter & Paula Fasseas Cancer Center at UMC North to serve patient needs. Gadabout staff members donate their services at the salon to those who need wig styling due to hair loss. On this and countless other occasions, Jana has inspired others to share their talents to benefit the community.

Her dedication to making this community a better place also involves The Boys and Girls Clubs of Tucson. She knows that every child needs positive influences in their lives to thrive and become the best they can be. She currently serves as President.

In her industry, Jana has been an internationally recognized hairdresser since 1980. She participated in the Young ICD for Intercoiffure and style demonstrations at the organization’s World Congress in Germany. She is an active member of TSA, Intercoiffure, ISPA and ICSA. In 2004, Jana was recognized for her interior design collaboration with husband Frank with a Salon of the Year Award from Salon Today Magazine for Gadabout’s Oracle Road location. The future is bright for this talented woman — her vision and passion for life will continue to influence others for years to come. — July 2007
